Businesses, Homes damaged in Narlıköy Floods

Heavy rainfall occurred in parts of the Rodopi region, starting in the morning in some areas and continuing into the afternoon in others. The downpour, which began in the afternoon and lasted until late evening, affected many villages, with Narlıköy and Yassıköy experiencing significant flooding.
In Narlıköy, the rivers running through the village overflowed after the rainwater rushed down from the mountain slopes. The floodwaters spread through the village and onto the Yassıköy-Narlıköy main road.
Some of the floodwater entered homes and businesses, causing damage. One of the affected businesses in Narlıköy was the EL-AL store, which specializes in aluminum and PVC services.
The owner of EL-AL, who is also a Yassıköy Municipality Advisor, Ercan Mümin, shared his experience with MİLLET.
Mümin explained that the heavy rain, which started in the afternoon and lasted until evening, caused the rivers to overflow, with water entering several homes, including his own shop. He stated that by 6:00 PM, the water began entering the store, and at some points, the water level inside reached up to 70 cm. Mümin and his staff used a water pump to remove the water, and the cleanup efforts are ongoing. He also expressed gratitude to volunteers from the Red Cross Komotini Branch who assisted in the process. Mümin offered his best wishes to the residents of Narlıköy and Yassıköy and hoped that such disasters would not occur again.
