It was announced that the work consisting of two volumes was published by the Mufti Office of İskeçe (Xanthi) under the coordination of Mufti Ahmet Mete.
It has been reported that the cover design of the work, which is stated to be written by Mustafa Trampa, editing by Emine Hüseyin Palazlı, photography and design by Ali Ferhat, was done by Ümit Farzlı.
In the first volume of the work, it was stated that while the works in İskeçe Central, Yaka (Side), and Ova (Lowland) regions were discussed, mosques and masjids in the Balkan region were discussed in the second volume.
The explanation published by the Xanthi Mufti regarding the work is as follows:
“The two-volume work written is to reveal the historical existence and potential of mosques and masjids in İskeçe region. As the research area, the center, collar, plain and Balkan regions of İskeçe province were discussed.
The aim of our book study is to reveal and record the promotion and features of our mosques and masjids, which are a part of Turkish-Islamic civilization and the main symbol of the Western Thrace Muslim Turkish existence.
While researching the artifacts, their place and location, history, architectural features, and decoration were discussed.
Care was taken to ensure that the persons identified as the resource persons were religious officials who knew the region very well and the oldest persons of the region. In addition, by examining documents, photographs, and tombstones, we tried to reach our aim.
As a result of all these studies, two volumes of works called "Xanthi Mosques and Masjids" were unearthed. In the first volume, 12 mosques and masjids in the center of Xanthi, 22 in the collar area, and 37 in the plain area were examined in all aspects, and their old and new states were recorded.
Likewise, 68 mosques and masjids in the İskeçe Balkan region were researched and various aspects of the second volume were studied.
Our virtuous Mufti of İskeçe, Ahmet Mete, presents the work with the following words: "Our book titled "İskeçe Mosques and Masjids", which was prepared as the product of a long study, aims to provide productive and useful information about our places of worship, which are the symbols of our existence, revealing the basic structure and leaven of this soil.''
We should also state that, as a result of the researches, it was seen that the fact that no cognates were found in some derelict villages caused the existing mosques and masjids to turn into ruins.
The book, which was published among the İskeçe Mufti Office Publications, was published in 2022. Our virtuous İskeçe Mufti Ahmet Mete is the Project Coordinator of the work named "İskeçe Mosques and Masjids"; The copywriter is Mustafa Trampa. The design and photo belong to Ali Ferhat and the editing was done by Emine Hüseyin Palazlı. The cover was designed by Ümit Farzlı.
