BBP leader Mustafa Destici holds key meetings in Western Thrace
BBP (Great Unity Party) Chairman Mustafa Destici visited Western Thrace on the occasion of the commemoration of the late Dr. Sadık Ahmet, engaging in a series of meetings with local representatives and community leaders.
Following his participation in the July 24 memorial ceremony, Destici continued his visit on Friday, July 25, with important stops in both Gümülcine and İskeçe.
In Gümülcine, he first visited the headquarters of the Friendship, Equality and Peace (DEB) Party and met with its President Çiğdem Asafoğlu. He then paid a visit to the elected Mufti of Gümülcine, İbrahim Şerif.
Later in the day, the BBP delegation traveled to İskeçe, where Destici met with the elected Mufti and President of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority Consultative Committee, Mustafa Trampa. He also visited the İskeçe Turkish Union and met with its President Kerem Abdurrahimoğlu and board members.
Destici concluded his visit with Friday prayers at Çınar Mosque, where he had the opportunity to speak with local community members.
In a statement from the BBP headquarters, the party emphasized its commitment to the rights and identity of the Turkish minority in Western Thrace, stating:
“We discussed the current status of our kinsmen in the region, as well as Turkish World–Western Thrace and Turkiye–Greece relations. We express our deep gratitude to those who, with great determination, continue the struggle to preserve the existence and identity of the Turks of Western Thrace against all forms of pressure and rights violations.”
