The reader-author meeting of Bağlar Magazine, published under the coordination of YTB, took place on 13 July Thursday in Xanthi and Komotini.

Published under the auspices of the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB) and one of the important channels of Turkish literature in the Balkans, Bağlar Magazine's reader-author meeting in Xanthi took place in a friendly atmosphere.

Especially university students and literature enthusiasts showed great interest to the event in Xanthi Turkish Union.

Among those who followed the programme in Xanthi were Consul General of the Republic of Turkey in Komotini Aykut Ünal, Mufti of Xanthi Mustafa Trampa, President of Xanthi Turkish Union Ozan Ahmetoğlu, Mayor Candidate of Mustafçova Cemil Kabza and many university students.

The President of ITB Ozan Ahmetoğlu took the floor first in the event. Ahmetoğlu expressed his satisfaction for hosting such an event.

Ali Işık, Editor-in-Chief of Bağ-lar Magazine, took the floor afterwards and explained the establishment of the magazine. He stated that Bağ-lar, which essentially describes the unity of the cognates living in the Balkan countries and their bond with each other, also covers the bond of the cognates with each other and the bond with the motherland.

Ali Işık, Editor-in-Chief of Bağ-lar Magazine, emphasised that the issue of literature should be conveyed in writing and stated that oral culture is lost over time.

Speaking at the event, Consul General of the Republic of Turkey in Komotini Aykut Ünal stated that Xanthi Turkish Union is home to many stories and that many photographs hanging on the walls have a story and that some of these stories are known by those sitting in the front rows of the hall, but the young people sitting in the back rows should definitely learn these stories and pass them on to future generations.

Drawing attention to the importance of young people being more active in the society, Consul General Ünal stated that with the knowledge of history and the necessary research, it will be possible to transfer the memory and stories of the society to future generations. Consul General Ünal stated that they continue to follow the work of young people with appreciation.

Hüseyin Mehmet, the Editorial Coordinator of the magazine, who made a short speech at the event, stated that he believes that the Turkish Community in Western Thrace has a serious accumulation in the field of literature and in this sense, they aspire to the stories and efforts of young friends.

Finally, Müberra Karadayı and Beyzanur İmam, the writers of Bağ-lar Magazine from Xanthi, took the floor.

Müberra Karadayı stated that writing is the work of a troubled person and that people feel the need to tell something from birth and that it starts with crying and continues to develop over time throughout life. Karadayı told the magazine about the workshops she attended during her writing process.

Beyzanur İmam stated that her magazine adventure started with Ilıca Magazine and then continued with Fiyaka and then Bağ-lar. İmam stated that writing in the Academy can restrict people, but there is no such thing in literary media such as Bağ-lar. He stated that he will continue to write in order to keep our own existence and identity alive and to keep our ties with each other, with the Balkans and with the motherland Turkey alive.

Mustafa Trampa, Mufti of Xanthi, who took the floor lastly in the event, emphasised the importance of such works for both Western Thrace and Xanthi. Trampa stated that these literary works, poems and stories add important meanings to the values of the society and that such works play a leading role in the transfer of these values that keep the society alive to future generations. Mufti Trampa stated that the fact that this event was held in the Xanthi Turkish Union, which we define as "the House of Culture of Xanthi", was also of great importance.

In the programme held at the Cultural Centre of Western Thrace Imam Hatip High School Graduates and Members Association (BİHLİMDER) in Komotini, the authors of the magazine took the floor and made speeches.

Merve Hasan made the definition speech of Bağlar Magazine, which serves its readers with its literature, thought and culture content.

Afterwards, Mehmet Emin Ahmet, President of BİHLIMDER, took the floor and made an opening speech. The President greeted the participants and speakers of the introductory programme and then shared his thoughts about the event.

Ali Işık, Editor-in-Chief of Bağlar Magazine, took the floor at the end of the programme. Greeting the Western Thracian kinsmen who attended the programme, Mr Işık conveyed the greetings of the President of Turks Abroad and Related Communities Abdullah Eren and others. In his speech, he talked about YTB's work in the field of literature and the importance of the magazine in the Balkans.

Afterwards, Esma Deli Hasan, Melis Deli Hasan, and Seda Paçaman, the writers of Bağlar Magazine, gave speeches on their writing journeys about the online workshops they participated in.

In the last part of the programme, the editor-in-chief and the authors answered the questions.

The successful promotion programme was completed with the closing speech of Mehmet Emin Ahmet, President of BİHLIMDER.
