Ankara-based lawyers visit Western Thrace for official meetings

The visiting delegation included Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Council Member Lawyer Fatih Ünal, Council of Judges and Prosecutors (HSK) Member Lawyer Bilal Temel, former President of Ankara Bar Association No. 2 Lawyer Sabri Hafif, and lawyers Bülent Yağmur and Metin Yağmur.
As part of their visit, the group met with the President of the Consultative Committee of the Turkish Minority of Western Thrace and Mufti of Xanthi, Mustafa Trampa. During the meeting, the Ankara-based legal professionals were briefed on the latest developments affecting the Turkish minority in the region and discussed legal and community-related issues.
Following the meeting with Trampa, the delegation visited the Xanthi Turkish Union (ITB), where they were welcomed by President Kerem Abdurrahimoğlu and Vice President İsmet Tüccar. During their discussions, President Abdurrahimoğlu provided detailed information on the Union’s long-standing legal struggle, particularly its efforts to retain the word "Turkish" in its name—an issue that has been brought before the European Court of Human Rights.
The visit was seen as a meaningful step in strengthening ties between Turkish legal professionals and the Turkish minority community in Greece, fostering legal solidarity and mutual understanding.
