"Anatolian and Rumelian folk song night" held at GTGB
The Komotini Turkish Youth Union (GTGB), in collaboration with its New Generation Branch, organized the "Anatolian and Rumelian Folk Song Night" on the evening of Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at the GTGB premises in Komotini.
During the event, Mümin Ali and his ensemble performed unforgettable pieces by legendary Turkish folk musicians Aşık Veysel, Neşet Ertaş, and Aşık Mahzuni Şerif. The night also featured zeibek dances accompanying folk songs from the Aegean region, as well as traditional melodies from Cyprus, Burdur, Urfa, the Black Sea, Erzurum, and Artvin.
One of the most emotional moments of the evening was the tribute to Ferdi Tayfur, a master of Turkish music who passed away recently. The artists honored his memory by performing one of his iconic songs. Additionally, the event highlighted cultural traditions such as the bridal henna night and the groom’s shaving ceremony, which were presented to the audience with live music.
