Ambassador Çağatay Erciyes visits Western Thrace
On Sunday, March 30, Ambassador Erciyes first attended the Bayram reception at Türkiye’s Consulate General in Komotini, where he met with local compatriots. He then participated in the Bayram celebration at the Komotini Turkish Youth Union (GTGB). Concluding his visit in Komotini, Erciyes paid an official visit to Mufti İbrahim Şerif at his office.
The ambassador's next stop was Xanthi, where he visited Mustafa Trampa, the President of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority Advisory Board and the Mufti of Xanthi. There, he exchanged holiday greetings with members of the community at the mufti’s office.
Ambassador Erciyes’ final visit in Western Thrace was to the Xanthi Turkish Union (İTB), where he was welcomed by İTB President Ozan Ahmetoğlu, board members, and members of the local community. Ahmetoğlu provided an overview of İTB’s activities and its ongoing legal struggle. In response, Ambassador Erciyes emphasized that Turkey continues to advocate for the rights of the Western Thrace Muslim Turkish Minority at every platform and reaffirmed Ankara’s unwavering support for the community.
