“Dear members of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority,

Elections for the office of Mufti, which was vacated on July 14, 2022, after our virtuous Xanthi Mufti Ahmet Mete, who we will remember as one of the symbolic names of our minority with his struggle since he was elected Mufti for the usurped rights of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority, on July 14, 2022, elections held at the time of Friday prayer.

Mufti election was held in 83 mosques, in this framework, a total of 7,320 votes were cast by our compatriots and Mustafa Trampa, who received 4,750 of these votes, was elected as the new Mufti of Xanthi and started his duty.

The fact that the election procedure concluded without any tension and the great interest and high participation of our Xanthi cognates is a clear indication that the Mufti issue is of great importance for the society.

We would like to express our appreciation and gratitude to the Muslim Turks of Xanthi, who bravely and consciously defend the cause of the minority, for their determined stance.

On this occasion, we once again call on the Greek authorities of our country to correct the wrong steps taken in the mufti issue as soon as possible and to bring a solution to the issue that takes into account the views and demands of the minority.”
