Accident in Meriç: Taxi plunges into the sea
An unusual accident occurred in the port area of Miri, in the Evros (Meriç) region, on Monday, 28 July around midday, when a taxi unexpectedly fell into the sea for reasons yet to be determined.
Emergency services including the coast guard, police, and medical personnel were immediately dispatched to the scene.
The 47-year-old taxi driver was rescued through the quick intervention of a police officer on site, assisted by an Egyptian fisherman working nearby.
According to reports, the driver’s health condition is stable, and he faces no life-threatening injuries. As a precaution, he was transported to Alexandroupoli General Hospital for further medical evaluation.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
