ABTTF issues message on March 8 International Women’s Day

The Federation of Western Thrace Turks in Europe (ABTTF) has issued a statement on the occasion of March 8 International Women’s Day, celebrating the day with a special message.

The ABTTF Presidential Board extended its heartfelt congratulations to all women, particularly those of Western Thrace, on this important day.

In its official statement, the ABTTF Presidential Board emphasized: "Women of the Western Thrace Turkish community actively participate in all aspects of life, from education to politics, from the economy to the media. Through the associations they have established, they contribute to the social and cultural development of our community and strive to uphold our Turkish identity. With the hope that women will achieve the strong position they rightfully deserve in every field, we sincerely celebrate March 8 International Women’s Day, especially for the women of Western Thrace, and wish for a world free from discrimination and violence against women."

The United Nations General Assembly officially declared March 8 as International Women’s Day on December 16, 1977, to highlight women's rights and gender equality.

Celebrated annually worldwide with various events, this year’s theme for International Women’s Day is “For All Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment.” Under this theme, the UN calls for a future where no one is left behind, emphasizing the empowerment of future generations—especially young women and girls—as accelerators of lasting change.
