ABTTF executives met with Meschede association representatives
The Federation of Western Thrace Turks in Europe (ABTTF) visited Western Thrace Turks Solidarity and Aid Association in Meschede on Saturday, December 3, 2022 and met its members.
During the visit, ABTTF President Halit Habipoğlu, ABTTF Vice Presidents Sami Yusuf and Aydın Ahmet, and ABTTF Supervisory Board member Şerif Şerif met with the managers and members of the Meschede association.
During the visit where the current developments in Western Thrace and generally in Greece were evaluated, ABTTF President Habipoğlu shared the work carried out by ABTTF in 2022. He also explained 2023 action plan to the managers and members of the Meschede association.
Underlining that hate speech against Western Thrace Turkish society has increased in Greece and the systematic discrimination seen in all areas of social life continues Habipoğlu gave examples of hate attacks targeting the representatives of Western Thrace Turkish society.
Noting that the decisions of the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) regarding Western Thrace Turkish associations have not been implemented for more than 14 years despite all the warnings of the Council of Europe's Committee of Ministers, Habipoğlu noted that the rule of law is ignored in Greece.
During the visit, where the economic problems in the Western Thrace region were also evaluated, the importance of investments that will increase employment in the region was mentioned.
Listening to the problems and needs of the association, the ABTTF delegation noted that ABTTF will continue to support and contribute to the activities to be organized by the member associations on important national, cultural and religious days and months in 2023, once the epidemic ends.
