32-year tradition continued
Komotini Turkish Youth Union continued the 32-year tradition this year as well.
The 32nd traditional country race of the Komotini Turkish Youth Association (GTGB) was held. This year, there was great interest in the traditional country race, which took place in Semetli-Kartalkaya. A total of 143 competitors participated in the race.
Traditionally organized by the Komotini Turkish Youth Union, the Country Race was held on Monday, 27 June 2022, in Semetli Kartalkaya, a town in the center of Komotini, in Rhodope province.
As every year, a part from the competitions G.T.G.B. Folk dance teams performed local dances. Many other side event activities took part. At the end of the event, food and drinks were served to the participants.
The people of the region showed great interest in the event visited by Turkish Consul General to Komotini Murat Ömeroğlu.
143 competitors participated in the 32nd Country Run in 12 categories. Medals and various gifts were given to the competitors who succeeded in ranking.
In the statement made by the GTGB board of directors, “We appreciate the great support and we express our gratitude to the Mufti of Komotini, FEP Party, Western Thrace Minority University Graduates Association, Western Thrace Minority Education and Culture Company, Imam Hatip High School Graduates and Members Association, Green Road Company, Thrace Tobacco Producers Cooperative, YAKA IKE Company, Trakya Agricultural Cooperative, MAC Catering, İNEA Construction Company and our tradesmen who are always there for us.” statement was included.
