220 thousand euros of compensation to be filed with Millet
Another compensation case was filed with Millet newspaper, which has been wanted to be silenced by years of imprisonment and compensation for bravely defending the rights of Muslim Turks in Western Thrace, however, they have not given up their rightful struggle.
Mehmet Emin Şinikoğlu and Cemali Meço, who had been imposed as a mufti for many years on the Muslim Turks of Western Thrace and who were retired by the state in the past year without their consent, filed a lawsuit for compensation to Cengiz Ömer, Editor-in-Chief of Millet and Feyzullah Hasan Kahya, the newspaper's editor-in-chief.
Meço and Şinikoğlu demanded a total compensation of 220,000 euros, of which 110,000 euros each of the Millet newspaper writers. Meço and Şinikoğlu demanded compensation by claiming that they were insulted and made incredible claims and allegations about Cengiz Ömer and Feyzullah Hasan Kahya in their petition.
International treaties, laws, and the will of Western Thrace Muslim Turks were ignored, Mehmet Emin Şinikoğlu in Xanthi and Cemali Meço in Gümülcine applied to the Xanthi court for insulting them against Cengiz Ömer and Feyzullah Hasan Kahya on 5 November 2019. The case will be held at the Xanthi Civil Court of First Instance on 6 February 2020.
