ESPA Programs Monitoring Committee convened in Alexandroupoli on Friday, 25 November.

East Macedonia - Thrace Province’s first Monitoring Committee meeting on the ESPA (2021-2027) program was held.

Speaking at the meeting about the new ESPA program, State President Christos Metios said that the resources of the new program will increase by 39.8 percent compared to the program between 2014 and 2020, which means an increase of approximately 182 million euros.

President Metios noted that the resource, which was 457.13 million euros in the previous period, will thus increase to 639.98 million euros.

Stating that in the new program, investments will be made in areas such as infrastructure, transportation, energy, tourism, environment and culture throughout the state, as in the previous period, Metios stated that they will also attach importance to areas such as combating discrimination, creating equal opportunities, education and health.

Stating that their aim is for the province to become a transit route in terms of energy and transportation, as well as to reach an important point in the fields of tourism, trade, education and research, Christos Metios noted that they aim  to make the East Macedonia-Thrace province a producing and developing province.
