Greek citizen arrested for attacking police in Edirne
Greek national T.L. who hit and injured a motorcyclist and attacked the Turkish police with a cleaver at Ipsala Customs Gate was arrested.
The suspect was referred to Keşan Courthouse after the completion of his treatment at Keşan State Hospital. T.L. was arrested by the judge on the charge of "attempted intentional homicide".
Two weeks ago, in the intermediate area between Ipsala Customs Gate and Greek Customs of Kipi Gate, Greek driver T.L had deliberately hit and injured a 71-year-old Turkish motorcyclist.
The Greek driver had entered the customs area from the opposite direction and hit the lorry and barriers.
The suspect got out of his vehicle and walked towards the Turkish police officers with a cleaver in his hand, after which the police fired 2 shots in the air as a warning.
T.L was neutralised by shooting at his right foot after he did not obey the "stop" warning.
The detained suspect was taken under treatment at the hospital.
