AOX promoted back to national leagues after three-year absence
AO Xanthi (AOX), the historic football club of Thrace, has secured promotion to Greece’s Gamma Ethniki (Third National Division) after three years in the local leagues of the Xanthi Football Association (EPS).
In the final matchday of the promotion playoffs (Group A), AOX drew 0–0 with Akrites Sykeon, clinching third place in the standings and a spot in the national divisions.
Following the match, players, staff, and supporters celebrated both the promotion and their championship title in the Xanthi local league, with a trophy and medals ceremony held on the pitch.
Group leaders Aetos Ofryniou of Kavala secured top spot despite a 3–2 loss to Doxa Drama, who finished second. Akrites Sykeon were also promoted, finishing as one of the four best fourth-placed teams among the eight playoff groups.
