WHO: "All for Health, Health for All."
One billion dollars was raised on Monday as part of the largest ever "investment cycle" for the World Health Organization, organized by the World Health Assembly under the slogan "All for Health, Health for All."
Greece, represented by Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis, contribued with an amount over 20 million euros.
The WHO's goal is to save 40 million lives in the period 2025-2028. In order to achieve its goal, the organisation needs sufficient, stable and predictable funding.
Speaking at the event, Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis stressed that Greece "has recently come out of a huge financial crisis and its health system would not have survived without the support of the WHO." So we are well aware of the importance of the WHO and praised the efforts of the Director General of the Organization, Tedros Andanom Gebrejesus, "at the global level, in the fight against the pandemic, but also against an even bigger pandemic, the misinformation and false news spreading in the world and threatening to destroy the human mind and human reason."
"Greece, as a country that recognises what the WHO stands for, is and will remain a major donor in the coming years, with more than 20 million euros, so that the WHO can build 'All for Health, Health for All.' Because Health is very important," Adonis Georgiadis noted.
