West Macedonia sets up energy community to cut down on electricity costs
The setup of an energy community including the Region of West Macedonia, 13 municipalities, city water businesses and local land improvement organizations was completed in the city of Kozani on Thursday.
The process concluded when the founding charter of "Energy Community of Citizens of the West Macedonia Region" was signed during the meeting of the Region's council.
Its purpose is to be included in the 'Apollon' program of energy offsets that will cover up to 50% of the cost of energy expenditures for public buildings, street lighting, water pumps, and others.
As Regional Governor Giorgos Amanatidis said, "We tried to move fast. We are one of the very first Regions to be included in the new program 'Apollo' that aims to directly reduce expenditures in electricity for members of the community.
'Apollo' was presented at a special event in the regional council facilities in Kozani by Deputy Energy & Environment Minister Alexandra Sdoukou and Energy Regulatory Authority President Athanassios Dagoumas.
