Two foreign nationals, aged 48 and 65, lost their lives while swimming in the sea in Peraia, Thessaloniki, and Sarti, Halkidiki.

According to AMNA, on Saturday afternoon the Thessaloniki Port Authority was informed that a 48-year-old Romanian national had lost consciousness while diving from a pier in the Peraia area of the Municipality of Thermaikos. Swimmers at the scene initially provided first aid, followed by resuscitation attempts from an EKAV emergency medical team. He was transported by ambulance to AHEPA Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Meanwhile, the Port Authority of Ormos Panagias received a report that a 65-year-old Hungarian national had been pulled unconscious from the sea in Sarti, Halkidiki. He was transported by EKAV ambulance to the Agios Nikolaos Health Centre, where he was also declared dead.

A preliminary investigation has been launched into both incidents. The bodies have been transferred to the Thessaloniki Forensic Service for autopsy and post-mortem examination.
