The Ministry of Health has decided to take measures against the increasing danger of measles virus in Europe.

In a statement made by the Greek National Public Health Authority (EODY), the sudden increase in measles cases in Romania, France, the UK and Austria was pointed out.
In the statement underlining that no measles cases were found in Greece in 2022 and 2023, it was stated that measles virus was detected in two people linked to abroad in 2024.
In order to prevent the spread of the measles virus in Greece, the Ministry of Health has decided to create a special health team that will focus on the vaccination of the population, the statement said.
In the statement, it was stated that there was no particular cause for concern, and the importance of raising public awareness against the virus was emphasised.
