Strong response to agricultural producer groups initiative in Greece
The Greek Ministry of Rural Development & Food has announced that the first round of applications for the "Formation of Producer Groups and Organizations" initiative under the CAP Strategic Plan 2023-2027 has been overwhelmingly successful, with 247 proposals submitted.
The total requested funding reached €52.3 million, far exceeding the available €31.18 million public budget.
Breakdown of Applications
176 proposals focused on plant production, requesting €35.24 million
71 proposals focused on animal production, requesting €17.09 million
The initiative aims to encourage farmers and livestock breeders to form cooperative structures to better navigate market challenges and strengthen their position in the agri-food value chain.
The evaluation process will begin immediately, with the Ministry aiming to finalize the selection of beneficiaries as quickly as possible.
