Sheep and goat pox: 481,359 animals culled, ten new cases reported in four regional units

According to the Committee, between February 16, 2024 and February 28, 2026, ten new cases were recorded in four regional units.
According to data from the National Scientific Committee for the Management and Control of Small Ruminant Pox and the Ministry of Rural Development and Food, 481,359 animals were culled between August 2024 and February 2026 as part of health protocols to control the disease. In addition, 2,113 confirmed cases of sheep and goat pox have been recorded on 2,620 farms across the country.
According to the Committee, between February 16, 2024 and February 28, 2026, ten new cases were recorded in four regional units.
These were in the regional units of Aitoloakarnania (5), Ilia (2), Rodopi (2) and Fokida (1).
