Public veterinarians announce 24-hour strike on February 10

The Panhellenic Federation of Public Sector Veterinarians (ΠΟΓΕΔΥ) has declared a 24-hour warning strike on February 10, 2025, in response to the statements made by the Minister of Rural Development and Food at the Zootechnia exhibition. Despite repeated promises, the government has yet to issue the ministerial decision (Κ.Υ.Α.) granting veterinarians the hazardous and unhealthy work allowance.
Key Demands of Public Veterinarians:
1. Immediate staffing of Veterinary Services to address operational gaps.
2. Official implementation of the hazardous and unhealthy work allowance, as already recommended by the designated committee.
Recruitment of administrative and financial staff to ensure the efficient functioning of veterinary services.
Public veterinarians emphasize their vital role in the primary sector, agricultural economy, public health, and environmental protection. They stress that mobilization is the only way to highlight the urgency of their demands and push for immediate action from the authorities.
