Hellenic Police have implemented special measures to manage the anticipated mass movement of travelers on the national highways ahead of the Dormition of Virgin Mary holiday on August 15th.

These measures include targeted patrols across the country’s road network, strict enforcement against dangerous driving violations and restrictions on truck movement during peak hours and high-traffic periods.

Specifically, the measures include:

Increased police presence and targeted patrols at high-risk areas of the road network where accidents are more frequent.

Intensive traffic enforcement at the entrances and exits of major urban centers, where traffic flow is expected to be high.

Heightened traffic measures in areas with large passenger gatherings, such as airports, ports, and stations.

Formation of special traffic control units focused on detecting and addressing dangerous violations.

Truck movement restrictions will apply to vehicles over 3.5 tons, as outlined in the relevant Joint Ministerial Decision:

Outbound from urban centers: Wednesday, August 14 from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM, and Saturday, August 17 from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

Inbound to urban centers: Sunday, August 18 from 4:00 PM to 11:00 PM.
