Panayote Dimitras to talk online about Greece's cases before ECtHR
Human rights cases against Greece before the ECtHR will be discussed in the third part of the online program series entitled “Facts about Our Country”
The third program will be broadcast on Thursday 27 January 2022 in the online program series entitled “Facts about Our Country” which is organized by the Federation of Western Thrace Turks in Europe (ABTTF) on the Zoom platform.
The guest of the third program, which will be broadcast live simultaneously on ABTTF’s YouTube channel and Facebook page, will be Panayote Dimitras.
Dimitras is the Spokesperson of the Greek Helsinki Monitor (GHM), one of the leading NGOs in Greece. He is also a board member of the Strasbourg-based European Implementation Network (EIN), which works on the execution of the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) judgments by the Member States of the Council of Europe.
The state of human rights in Greece, including migrants, minorities, and other vulnerable groups, and human rights cases against Greece before the ECtHR will be discussed directly in the program which has a Q&A format.
Within this framework, the Bekir Usta and Others Litigation Group, which includes associations of the Western Thrace Turkish community, and the Macedonian minority's Macedonian Cultural House case will focus on new cases that have been moved to the ECHR against the illegal pushback of migrants in the Aegean Sea due to Greece's failure to implement ECHR decisions.
