In Gargara village of Chalkidiki, close to Thessaloniki, the area of 201 Ottoman graves were plundered with heavy equipment. It was stated that the graves disappeared after the excavation works for the gymnasium.
According to the news of the Greek media, the workers who saw the graves unearthed during the excavation stopped the work. Halkidiki Historical Artifacts Directorate and Nea Propontida (Yeni Bandırma) Municipality were informed.
