New leaflet with guidelines for hiking in protected areas

The Hellenic Federation of Mountaineering and Climbing (EOOA) and the Agency for the Natural Environment and Climate Change (OFYPEKA) have jointly issued a leaflet containing guidelines for the public engaging in hiking activities within environmentally protected areas.

The leaflet includes practical directions for movement within areas under special protection status, aiming to ensure visitor safety and to minimize human impact on local ecosystems.

The material is available through EOOA, its member mountaineering clubs, and the Management Units of Protected Areas under OFYPEKA.

This publication is part of a memorandum of cooperation between the two organizations. The purpose of this collaboration is to support activities in areas of natural interest while simultaneously preserving the natural and cultural characteristics of these regions.

According to the two organizations, upcoming joint initiatives will include identifying locations of human activity that leave an environmental footprint and designing measures to avoid negative impacts.

The leaflet is also available in electronic format.
