Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis extended his condolences to the people of North Macedonia for the 59 lives lost in the devastating fire in Kocani, in a post on X.

“Heartfelt condolences to the people of North Macedonia for the lives lost in the tragic fire in Kočani. My thoughts are with the victims and their families, and I wish a speedy recovery to the injured. Greece stands ready to assist in this difficult time,” wrote Mitsotakis.

Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis expressed his condolences and offered support to his counterpart from North Macedonia, Timcho Mucunski, following a devastating nightclub fire in the city of Kocani that claimed 59 lives.

“Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis had a phone conversation with the FM of North Macedonia Timcho Mucunski.Greek FM extended his condolences for the loss of life caused by the tragic fire that broke out last night in the town of Kocani,” read a statement by the Greek Foreign Ministry. 

“Gerapetritis expressed Greece’s readiness to provide any necessary assistance, including life-saving rescue teams & medical support,” it added. 

According to diplomatic sources, some of the injured are expected to be transferred to hospitals in Thessaloniki, with discussions ongoing between the two sides.
