Mitsotakis-Erdogan meeting in New York between September 22-26
Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis gave an interview to the Action 24 television station, during which he confirmed, among other things, that there will be a meeting between the Greek Prime Minister and the Turkish President, on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York, at a time that has not yet been determined exactly.
Gerapetritis estimated that the meeting will take place between September 22-26 and will not be merely a courtesy meeting . "We are seeking a structured dialogue," the minister emphasized.
Regarding the recent statements of his Turkish counterpart, Gerapetritis stated that "we have worked to consolidate a functional relationship with Turkiye, however we have different positions."
"Greece has the issues in its neighborhood under control, it is not defined by Turkiye, but it also does not accept lecturing from its neighbors. The initiative belongs to us with the aim of strengthening our country", the Minister of Foreign Affairs underlined.
Regarding the Greece-Cyprus electrical interconnection project, Gerapetritis clarified that the project will continue because it is a European project and is very important because it removes the energy isolation of Cyprus.
