Local authorities from Rhodope pay visit to Bartholomew
The Rhodope delegation consisting of the President of the Province of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace Christodoulos Topsidis, Metropolitan Panteleimon of Maronia and Komotini, Mayor of Komotini Yannis Garanis, Mayor of Şapçı-Maronia Apostolos Ioannou and his entourage went to the Patriarchate in Istanbul on 26 March Tuesday and met with Patriarch Bartholomew.
During the meeting with Patriarch Bartholomew, the delegation headed by the President of the province Topsidis gave information about the people-centred activities in their fields and the problems they face. The leaders from Rhodope emphasised that they work hand in hand and fight together for the development of the province of Rhodope and Thrace in general.
"Mr. Topsidis described his meeting with Mr. Bartholomew, who has visited the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace many times, as a great blessing and stated that the Regional Governor is always welcome and that every visit is a great honour and blessing for our lands."
It was emphasised that all the local authorities in the delegation were very satisfied with their meeting with Bartholomew and invited him to visit Eastern Macedonia and Thrace.
