The ongoing heatwave shows no signs of easing, with extreme temperatures expected to continue across the country on Wednesday, according to forecasts from the National Observatory (Meteo.gr).

The ongoing heatwave shows no signs of easing, with extreme temperatures expected to continue across the country on Wednesday, according to forecasts from the National Observatory (Meteo.gr).

Weather conditions will remain stifling, with temperatures soaring between 24°C and 43°C in several regions. Winds from variable directions will prevail, reaching force 5 on the Beaufort scale, adding to the discomfort.

Regional Forecast:

Northern Greece: Mostly fair skies with temperatures ranging from 24°C to 42°C.

Western Greece: Scattered clouds expected; temperatures will range from 23°C to 41°C.

Eastern Greece: Mostly clear skies and temperatures between 24°C and 43°C.

Aegean Islands & Crete: Sunny with highs of 41°C, lows around 25°C.

Athens: Fair weather with daytime temperatures reaching up to 40°C.

Thessaloniki: Mostly fair and similarly hot, ranging from 26°C to 40°C.

On Tuesday, temperatures reached a staggering 45°C in parts of Eastern Central Greece and Thessaly, while exceeding 43°C in several other areas. Data from Meteo.gr revealed that 311 out of 550 automatic weather stations recorded temperatures above 37°C. Of those, 102 stations exceeded 40°C, and 34 stations hit 42°C or higher.

The average maximum temperature across the country on Tuesday was 37.1°C, marking a 1.5°C increase from Monday’s average of 35.6°C.

Authorities continue to urge the public to avoid unnecessary outdoor activity, stay hydrated, and take extra precautions to protect vulnerable populations during this extreme weather event.
