Former SYRIZA minister Alekos Flambouraris dies

Former minister and SYRIZA MP Alekos Flambouraris has died at the age of 87.
Flambouraris served as the Minister of State for coordinating government operations in Alexis Tsipras’ cabinets from 2015 to 2019.
Born in Athens in 1938, he was a graduate of the University of Graz in Austria and the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in civil engineering.
In his youth, he was a member of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) and Lambrakis Youth movement. During the 1967-1974 junta, he was arrested for his activities against the dictatorship.
He served as an MP from September 2015 to April 2023.
