Firefighting forces are battling the flames in Krieza and Petries

Strong ground forces remain on Tuesday in the area and operate. More specifically, 205 firefighters with 11 groups of pedestrian units and 56 vehicles, while at the first light of the day, 5 aircraft and 3 helicopters are assisting the extinguishing operation.
New messages via the emergency number 112 were sent to residents in Klimaki, Liani Ammos, Petries and Krieza.
The Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Vassilis Kikilias, who traveled to Evia, spoke of "a difficult fire, as it started in a difficult place with low vegetation and quickly spread."
A large number of volunteers, local government water tankers and other machinery also assist in the extinguishing operation. As a precaution, a fire-fighting boat is in the area and the Coast Guard has been mobilized with floating means near the coastline.
Also, police forces have been developed to facilitate the removal of residents. The coordination of all firefighting forces is carried out by the OLYMPOS Mobile Operations Center.
