The initiative aims to counter the effects of coastal erosion while safeguarding one of Greece's most iconic tourist attractions. Officials said the expansion will help preserve the shoreline surrounding the famous shipwreck and improve the site's long-term environmental resilience.

The project is part of broader efforts to protect the beach from geological and environmental risks, including erosion and rockfalls, while ensuring the landmark remains a sustainable destination for visitors.
