Elderly couple killed in Kalamata; son arrested
An elderly couple in Kalamata, southern Peloponnese, were found dead on Sunday in what authorities are treating as a domestic homicide. Their 61-year-old son has been arrested as the main suspect, according to state broadcaster ERT.
The victims, aged 96 and 93, were discovered in their family home after police and emergency medical services responded to the scene. Early reports suggest a sharp object was used in the fatal attack.
The suspect, who is in custody at the local police headquarters, is reported to have a history of psychiatric hospitalization. Investigators are currently working to determine the circumstances of the incident and the motive behind the alleged crime.
