With a joint announcement, the Medical Associations of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace (EMT) are calling on doctors to abstain from work and participate in Friday's protests marking two years since the Tempi railway tragedy.

A Deep Social Wound
The statement describes the Tempi disaster as "a deep social wound that touches the fundamental values of our society: safety, trust in institutions, and respect for human life."

On February 28, 2025, exactly two years after the tragic accident, the Medical Associations of EMT express their deep sorrow and solidarity with the families of the victims, emphasizing:

🕊 Honoring the memory of those lost
🫂 Standing in solidarity with grieving families
⚖ Demanding justice and systemic changes to prevent future tragedies

The Medical Associations stress that ensuring public safety is a fundamental duty of the state, which must act with transparency, justice, and responsibility.

Call for Participation
Doctors across the region are urged to join the February 28 events and abstain from their duties as a form of protest.
