Doctors and healthcare workers across Greece went on a 24-hour strike, demanding better working conditions and improvements to the country's healthcare system.
The strike, organized by hospital workers' unions, saw medical staff gather in central Athens. Protesters assembled in Mavili Square before marching to the Parliament building in Syntagma Square and then to the Ministry of Health.
Some demonstrators climbed the Health Ministry building, hanging a banner that read, "We demand salary increases, mass recruitment, and the permanent hiring of contract workers."
The strike was fueled by demands for better economic conditions, an increase in staff numbers, and improvements to the healthcare system. Protesters also voiced their dissatisfaction with Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis as he exited the Ministry building.
