Civil Protection on alert for the ongoing adverse weather conditions

The General Secretariat of Civil Protection recommends that citizens be especially careful on Thursday, as the adverse weather conditions continue, according to the Updated Emergency Weather Deterioration Report issued on Thursday 12-26-2024 by the National Meteorological Service (EMY), with locally heavy rains, isolated storms in the southern maritime and coastal areas, stormy northeasterly winds in the central and northern parts of eastern Greece and snowfall in the mountainous and occasional semi-mountainous areas of central and northern Greece.

In particular, the General Secretariat of Civil Protection recommends that citizens take measures to protect themselves from risks arising from the severe weather phenomena, while at the same time it has informed the competent government agencies involved as well as the regions and municipalities of the country, so that they are on increased readiness, in order to immediately deal with the effects of the occurrence of extreme weather phenomena.

On Friday, there will be an improvement but  in the Aegean and in places on the eastern mainland, gale-force north-easterly winds will continue to blow.

Citizens can be updated daily on the development of extraordinary weather phenomena in the regular weather reports of EMY and on the website of EMY on the website www.emy.gr.
