Athens Bar Association condemns Israel’s actions in Gaza, urges humanitarian relief
In its official announcement, the Bar Association stated:
“The Athens Bar Association expresses its deep concern and outrage over the ongoing isolation of the Gaza Strip by Israeli forces. The deprivation of basic necessities such as food, infant formula, clean water, and medicine has led to the deaths of tens of thousands of civilians, including a devastating number of children and infants.”
The statement emphasized the need for respect toward international humanitarian law, particularly the Geneva Conventions that protect victims of armed conflicts. It also highlighted the recent resolutions by the United Nations General Assembly and the International Criminal Court that point to the commission of war crimes in Gaza.
Calling for immediate international action, the Bar underscored the urgent need to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza and called for a ceasefire to be declared without delay.
“The protection of human life and fundamental rights must be upheld,” the statement concluded.
