Annulment of the establishment decision of the 'Macedonian Language Center' in Florina requested!
Among the aims of the said association were the preservation and development of the Macedonian language in Greece and supporting the teaching of the Macedonian language as an optional course in Greek universities and public schools.
According to the news in the national press, Florina Prosecutor Anastasia Kalayci claimed that the founding decision of the "Macedonian Language Center" was contrary to the Prespa Agreement signed between Greece and North Macedonia, and demanded the annulment of the court decision that registered the establishment of the association. It was also stated that Prosecutor Kalayci claimed that the association was "trying to create a minority in the region".
Saying that there are no Macedonian-speaking “Macedonian” citizens in Greece, but Greek-speaking Greek citizens, Kalayci argued that for this reason, the aims of the association in question are not clear.
It was also noteworthy that Prosecutor Kalayci claimed that the systematic development of the language of a foreign country bordering Greece in the Macedonian and Thrace regions of Greece would be against the security and public order of Greece.
As it will be remembered, Vasiliki Thanu, Honorary President of the Supreme Court of Appeals, made a statement in December and stated that the decision to recognize the "Center for Macedonian Language in Greece" established in the city of Florina, where the Macedonian minority is densely populated, should be cancelled.
About a month after the announcement of Vasiliki Thanu, who also served as the prime minister during the election government, the action to cancel the founding decision of the association was recorded as an extremely remarkable development.
