The following statement was shared on the social media account of the Turkish Embassy in Athens: “Ambassador Çağatay Erciyes presented his letter of credence to the President of the Hellenic Republic, Mrs. Katerina Sakellaropulu today.”

Ambassador Erciyes had recently started his duty in Athens.

WHO IS AMBASSADOR ÇAĞATAY ERCIYES?
Çağatay Erciyes graduated from TED Ankara College in 1984, Ankara University Faculty of Political Sciences Department of International Relations in 1988, and Virginia University Rhodes Maritime Law Academy in 2002.

In 1988, he entered the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and became a candidate profession officer in the Greek Department, and then held various positions. Erciyes, who served as the Permanent Representative of Türkiye to the International Civil Aviation Organization, headquartered in Montreal on September 1, 2012, became the Beirut Ambassador as of September 15, 2015 and held this duty until April 8, 2018.

He served as a member of the Turkish delegation in the 2004 UN Cyprus negotiations and exploratory talks with Greece on the Aegean problems. In December 2018, he was appointed as the General Manager of Cyprus-Greece, Maritime-Aviation, and Border.
