‘Alarm’ situation in Evros (Meriç)!
Greece is preparing at the Turkish-Greek border, for the possibility of a mass influx of immigrants from Turkiye.
According to media reports, work continues on a three-stage plan at the Evros border. According to the first plan, the security forces currently working in the region are on alert.
According to the second plan, in case of an influx of immigrants to the region, it is foreseen that the police from the Rhodope and Xanthi provinces will be transferred to the Evros (Meriç) province. In the event that the events expand, it is considered as the third plan for the security personnel from all of Northern Greece to go to the border line.
In case the second and third plans come into play, it is planned to send special vehicles and unmanned aerial vehicles from Athens to support the region in terms of technical equipment. According to the information received from the police officials, a large number of tear gas and sound bombs started to be sent to the province of Evsors (Meriç).
It is noted that the Coast Guard Units have also increased their measures against the influx of immigrants in the east of the Aegean and a drone to be rented from Israel will start to monitor the region in the coming days.
