"Türkiye holds a key position": Discussions on diplomacy and strategy in Germany
At a recent panel discussion, experts highlighted Türkiye’s growing geopolitical significance and Germany’s diplomatic shortcomings.
Jürgens: A More Just World Is Possible
During the event, journalist Ewald König and other speakers reflected on Türkiye’s role in global diplomacy. Journalist Jürgens referenced Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s statement, "A more just world is possible," emphasizing that this idea is once again relevant.
"Germany Has Made Diplomatic Mistakes"
Ewald König criticized Germany’s foreign policy, stating that the country has neglected diplomatic ties with certain nations.
"I must call these mistakes," König said. "Diplomacy, in my view, means keeping communication channels open at all times. I am not saying we should establish friendships, but maintaining open lines of communication is essential. That is what diplomacy is about."
"Türkiye’s Strategic Importance Is Rising"
König further noted Türkiye's increasing global influence and urged the German government to recognize and leverage Ankara’s strategic position.
"Türkiye holds a key position. Therefore, Germany should take advantage of this strategic role," he stated.
As part of the event, attendees also explored a photography exhibition themed "The Century of Türkiye," a documentary on the life of painter Devrim Erbil, and a video presentation by Stratcom Public Forum related to the panel.
