A 21-year-old German tourist who went missing about a month ago while hiking near the Samaria Gorge on the island of Crete has been found dead, according to reports Friday.
A 21-year-old German tourist who went missing about a month ago while hiking near the Samaria Gorge on the island of Crete has been found dead, according to reports Friday.
According to Kathimerini the body of the man, identified as Johann Williams, was discovered on the western slopes of Mount Gingilos, near a location known among locals as Mitato tou Tzatzimou, which is considered hazardous even for experienced hikers.
Climbers found his body on Friday morning and immediately alerted the authorities.
A recovery operation is expected to take place to retrieve his body.
The circumstances surrounding his death remain unknown at this time.
