Italy, Greece reaffirm support for ceasefire in Gaza, 2-state solution

Italy and Greece reaffirmed their support for a ceasefire in Gaza and a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

“We reconfirm our support for the full implementation of the ceasefire agreements in Gaza and Lebanon and for a two-state solution with an independent Palestinian State living side by side with Israel in peace and security,” they said Monday in a joint statement following a bilateral meeting held in Rome.

Regarding intensified diplomatic efforts to end the Russia-Ukraine war, they said: “We reaffirm our support for efforts to bring a just and lasting peace in Ukraine as soon as possible and for Ukraine’s security, sovereignty and independence.”

The two countries also said they will further improve cooperation within the European Union and NATO.

They also signed cooperation agreements in multiple domains, including the economy, commerce, infrastructure, sport, culture and energy.
