The country's trade deficit posted a 18.7 percent rise in November 2024 as a percentage increase in imports and a decrease in exports was recorded.

More specifically, according to Hellenic Statistical Authority's report released on Thursday,  the total value of imports, in November 2024 amounted to 7,205.6 million euros in comparison with 6,983.7 million euros in November 2023, recording an increase, in euros, of 3.2%. The corresponding value excluding oil products in November 2024 recorded an increase of 256.6 million euros or 4.9% and the corresponding value excluding oil products and ships in November 2024 recorded an increase of 258.7 million euros or 5.0%, in comparison with November 2023.

The total value of exports, in November 2024 amounted to 4,024.6 million euros in comparison with 4,304.3 million euros in November 2023, recording a drop, in euros, of 6.5%. The corresponding value excluding oil products recorded in November 2024 an increase of 157.5 million euros or 5.2% and the corresponding value excluding oil products and ships in November 2024 recorded an increase of 173.8 million euros or 5.8%, in comparison with November 2023.

The deficit of the trade balance, in November 2024 amounted to 3,181.0 million euros in comparison with 2,679.4 million euros in November 2023, recording an increase, in euros, of 18.7%. The corresponding value of deficit excluding oil products in November 2024 recorded an increase of 99.1 million euros or 4.5% and the corresponding value excluding oil products and ships in November 2024 recorded an increase of 84.9 million euros or 3.8%, in comparison with November 2023.

The total value of imports, for the 11-month period from January to November 2024 amounted to 77,379.3 million euros in comparison with 75,948.2 million euros for the corresponding period of the year 2023, recording an increase, in euros, of 1.9%.The corresponding value excluding oil products recorded an increase of 2,222.3 million euros or 4.0% and the corresponding value excluding oil products and ships recorded an increase of 2,178.8 million euros or 3.9%, in comparison with the period from January to November 2023.

The total value of exports, for the 11-month period from January to November 2024 amounted to 45,868.8 million euros in comparison with 47,278.3 million euros for the corresponding period of the year 2023, recording a drop, in euros, of 3.0%. The corresponding value excluding oil products recorded an increase of 401.6 million euros or 1.2% and the corresponding value excluding oil products and ships recorded an increase of 425.5 million euros or 1.3%, in comparison with the period from January to November 2023.

The deficit of the trade balance, for the 11-month period from January to November 2024 amounted to 31,510.5 million euros in comparison with 28,669.9 million euros for the corresponding period of the year 2023, recording an increase, in euros, of 9.9%. The corresponding deficit excluding oil products recorded an increase of 1,820.7 million euros or 7.8% and the corresponding deficit excluding oil products and ships recorded an increase of 1,753.3 million euros or 7.5%.
