Greece launches unified Digital App for truck and coach border entries

Starting Monday, a new unified digital application for logging truck and coach movements will be fully operational at all customs checkpoints along Greece’s land borders, marking a major step toward modernizing the country’s customs procedures.

The newly launched system replaces outdated handwritten logs, forms, and manual records with a streamlined digital platform, aimed at enhancing efficiency, transparency, and security at border crossings.

According to authorities, the platform brings numerous advantages, including:

Faster vehicle inspections at entry and exit points, significantly reducing waiting times;

Improved allocation of personnel, allowing customs officers to focus on high-priority tasks;

More effective tracking of suspicious vehicles, both domestically and upon departure;

Enhanced transparency and integrity during customs checks;

Centralized digital record-keeping for better data management and coordination.

Each year, Greece's border customs points process approximately 6.3 million vehicles—including trucks, buses, and passenger cars—and nearly 19.5 million passengers. The digital system is expected to significantly streamline the management of this traffic volume.

Additionally, the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) now has real-time access to vehicle entry and exit data, which strengthens its ability to carry out inspections, prevention, and enforcement in collaboration with other national border control agencies.

The initiative is part of Greece’s broader strategy to digitize public services and improve operational effectiveness at critical national infrastructure points.
