Applications for residence permits by non-European Union nationals under Greece’s Golden Visa programme fell sharply in 2025, according to data released by the Migration Ministry.
The number of applications dropped by 68% year on year in December 2025, with 362 submissions compared with 1,167 in the same month of 2024. For the full year, applications declined by 25% to 6,978, down from 9,289 in 2024.
While several European Union countries have abolished their Golden Visa schemes, Greece has retained the programme but raised the minimum investment requirement, a move that appears to have contributed to the decline in applications.
