Ermou Street rises to 15th most expensive high street in the world

Ermou Street, in the heart of Athens, has climbed one spot in the global ranking of the world’s most expensive shopping streets, according to this year’s Cushman & Wakefield annual report tracking retail market trends.

The survey shows that Ermou is now 15th, up from 16th last year, with rental prices rising 7% to €310 per square meter per month, or €3,720 per square meter annually.

Experts attribute the increase to growth in tourism and investment, which have enhanced both the commercial value and prestige of Athens’ historic center. On the global stage, London’s New Bond Street claimed the top spot for the first time.
