What was discussed during the meeting between Patriarch Bartholomew and Prime Minister Mitsotakis?

Greek Patriarch Bartholomeos of Istanbul visited Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis at the Maksimu Palace within the scope of his visit to Athens.

Bartholomeos informed Mitsotakis about the issues concerning the Patriarchate.

Mr Mitsotakis thanked Patriarch Bartholomew for his support following the natural disasters in Greece this summer.

The latest developments in the Middle East were also discussed during the meeting.

Expressing his concern about "Christian assets in the Holy Land", Mitsotakis stated that the Greek government is in contact with the Israeli side to protect the Church of St Porphyrius in Gaza from the blows of the Israeli Armed Forces.

NO SENSITIVITY SHOWN TO THE CHURCH TO THE MURDERED PEOPLE

Mitsotakis' lack of sensitivity for the protection of the historic church in Gaza from the blows of the Israeli army and his lack of sensitivity for the Palestinian people who are being massacred under intense bombardment drew reaction. The fact that Mitsotakis did not show the sensitivity he showed for the historical church in Gaza for the slaughtered Palestinian people drew reaction. It was also a matter of curiosity whether Vartholomeos made a request to Mitsotakis to put pressure on Israel to prevent further massacres of innocents in Gaza.

People in Greece have been protesting in the streets for days against the genocide committed by Israel in Gaza. Greek society has always been a supporter of the oppressed Palestinian people throughout history. However, the Mitsotakis administration, which has surrendered to the USA, gives indifferent support to the terrorist Israel, which is trying to destroy the Palestinian people, despite the Greek society. This behaviour of Mitsotakis draws reaction from the public opinion.
